World Book Day 2018

World Book Day, Monday, 9th April 2018

Some books you read, some books you enjoy,

but some books just swallow you up heart and soul.

– Joanne Harris

Dear Parents,

While it’s true that reading of any kind is a wonderful practice, it is beneficial to break the cycle and read something new every once in a while.  On World Book Day 2018 we want to encourage our students to read outside of their favorite genre by introducing them to new worlds and new adventures.

Each level is assigned a different literary genre to explore (refer to the back for the list). On Monday, 9th April 2018, students are advised to come dressed in a home-made costume or wear a chest-poster related to their genre.  They are requested to bring a plain white t-shirt to decorate (optional).  Students are encouraged to bring along their favorite book to read.  They may also bring any decorations for their class, giveaways or any snacks to share that go along with the genre (optional).

We plan to bring each genre to life through various hands-on activities and games that will captivate their minds, steal their hearts, and awaken the readers within them.
